When was the last time you read a review that felt like it was written from an audience members’ point of view?
Do you really want to know what a critic has to say?
Do you really care?
I don’t know about you, but when I watch a show or a movie, I expect it to be entertaining.
Entertaining doesn’t mean necessarily mean funny or thrilling.
A theatre show about two junkies who lose themselves and their lives to drugs can also be entertaining.
To be entertained is to be moved. Whether that’s done through laughter, tears, dance, shock tactics or music, it doesn’t matter.
As long as the audience member is moved, the performers have achieved their objective.
Which brings me to my initial question, why do all reviews read like a critical essay about to be submitted to a drama teacher?
That’s why Heckler was born.
We promise to deliver succinct, straight forward, honest and simple reviews.
Most of all, we hope to entertain.
Amongst the reviews, you’ll find a pot pourri of opinion pieces, interviews and articles by you, the reader.
Unless it is essential to the context of the piece, all posts on this site are anonymous.
Welcome to Heckler, here’s to Statler and Waldorf.
