FIND poets boring, do you?
Well, what if they passionately recited homoerotic West Wing fan fiction? Or blasted industrial metal at you while roaring about grammar?
In her Live on Air show at Tuxedo Cat, Poet Laureate Telia Nevile invites the audience in to watch her put on a pirate radio program from her living room. Clad in pyjamas and fluffy slippers and munching on lollies, Telia waxes lyrical about the first-world problems faced by a poet doing her very best to suffer for her art.
With a sad sparkle to her eyes she rhymes and reasons about how she sabotaged her parents’ marriage for artistic inspiration, and put sugar in the petrol tank of her hottie neighbour’s car so she could watch his rippling thighs cycle past every day.
With a bit of blues and rap amidst the poems, this superb wordsmith has done her very best to make poetry as accessible as possible, so give it a go!
Loved the steamy fan fiction, she was great! Thanks for the tickets!
