Review – The Brothers Pitt

The Brothers Pitt is advertised as family friendly – truer words could not be said of it. A light-hearted and amusing family circus based act, the show is largely aimed at children, but hits home for the parents too, with the occasional “wink-wink nudge-nudge” moment that will (hopefully) go over the heads of the little ones.
While the banter between presenter Cecil and his technical assistant and “brother”, Stuart is a little dry at times and those audience members above the age of ten won’t believe some of the set-ups for a second, there’s no denying just how impressive the acrobatic stunts the Pitt’s perform are. Particuarly memorable is the cameo by Cecil Pitt’s infant daughter, whose trick leaves the audiences simply wondering HOW?! As these tricks and those featuring the seven-year old Wee Pitt, are performed, the tension from parents in the room is palatable, but their success delights the whole audience. While Wee Pitt’s continued off-cue entrances might grate on the adult audience, children delighted in seeing someone their own age performing.
All in all, the show is a delight for children and their parents – so take the kiddies along, just remember to tell them ‘don’t try this at home!’ – an important message, as seen by the hoardes of children attempting cartwheels as the show exits.
