Gadsby proves she’s more learned than first thought as she strolls through Flemish painter Jan van Eyck’s 15th century piece The Arnolfini Marriage and uses it to springboard ideas of marriage, being a wife and body issues throughout history to the present day.
Gadsby is a great story-teller who is at ease on stage. She’s genuine, self-deprecating, sardonic and charming. With an eagle eye on social hypocrisy, including gay-marriage, she handles stereotypes, stories and facts with timely, witty jaunts and jibes.
