Michael Workman’s Mercy is not stitched up comedy as we know it, but rather a mythical and mystical tale about love, family and bravery. Workman weaves storytelling, stencil drawings, projections and music into a spell binding tale centering on a man forced into exile in 1960s Cuba.
Workman is gothic, witty and honest in his observations and his delicate presence gently guides the audience through a moving and thought provoking journey. Workman lingers over philosophy, tyranny and politics and with swift gear changes and keyboard maneuvers playfully descends into ditties about shark soup. Artistry and subtle skill abound in Mercy, an original and crafted piece of comedy.
