Paco Erhard – 5-Step Guide to Being German

GERMAN comedy is a phrase many would snigger at considering its country men and women are often ridiculed as being a bit stiff in the humor department. This is one of the first aspects of being German exploited by Erhard in his five step guide too being German.

Erhard explores the obvious stereotypes – strict adherence to rules, feelings about the countries dark past and their lack of national pride.

It’s easy to see Erhard’s frustration with his culture as well as his fondness for it. His explanation involves lots of yelling, yet he still comes across as friendly and is genuinely interested in setting the record straight.

The show is one of the more intelligent and the most informative I’ve seen at this year’s festival. While someone with a better understanding of European culture would pick up on more of the jokes, those without can expect a very entertaining education.
