Zoe Coombs Marr – Gone Off

Gone Off is that travel story. You know the one where you set off to discover yourself only to end up getting blind drunk with the locals and talking to yourself to avoid the awkward silence of solitude.

Marr’s skill keeps the anecdotes sharp and her casual delivery coupled with hilarious facial expressions stops predictable tales entering into snoreville. In comparison to her award-winning work with Post and one woman show ‘And That Was The Summer That Changed My Life’, Gone Off feels like its missing something. While it is recognisably Marr’s style of personal stories told with a biting honesty, it misses the depth of content and urgency of her earlier work.
