He’ll make you want to take your clothes off. Kim Churchill is a beautiful man inside and out, and backs it up with some mighty good talent.
His one-man rock show is flawless, with a voice as broad and smooth as the ocean, a multitude of instrumental skills to make any busker jealous and lyrics to touch the soul. He will take you to the place you want to be, which let’s face is most often wherever you call home. The vibes floating in the air resonate a sandy campfire with all your best mates or the feeling of dropping into the glassiest, cleanest most exhilarating wave. Although he gives most of his musical talent credit to his mum, because he’s so lovely like that, Churchill has ten years of classical training under his belt. Using this and a natural experimental creativity, he simultaneously churns out haunting sounds on the guitar, harmonica, kick-drum and that soulful voice. With the inclusion of a trumpet and electric guitar, the sound resonates John Butler, Jeff Lang, Led Zeppelin with influences (and a cover) from Bob Dylan.
There is something about his music that ignites a sense of home, as an Australian, world-citizen or individual. I haven’t seen a live act like this for a while and am highly likely to be following him around the country for some more great vibes. So get back to earth and see him too.
