Review – Joanne Shaw Taylor

Joanne Shaw Taylor loves guitar, and you can tell. Her influences include Jimi Hendrix and she’s played with BB King, and you can tell.

I was a little worried about going to the show. I like rock and I really like blues but I’m more of your car radio, Saturday afternoon listener. By no means am I a connoisseur of the full range of flavour of blues and rock. And I’m not a guitar nerd either. So you can understand that I may have been worried Joanne would be speaking a language I didn’t understand.

But she was discovered at 16 (by a guy from the Eurythmics) not just because she’s a technical genius  but because her music’s got heart and soul. Not to mention she’s got a beautiful (somewhat rock chick sexy) voice. And she throws her hair around and rocks out. It’s good entertainment and you’ll enjoy it if you even remotely like rock music.
