Review – Juliet Meyers: Middle Lane Swimmer (UK)
Venue: The Tuxedo Cat

I’m not entirely sure what it is about Juliet Meyers, but she seems very approachable. You know how some people give off a friendly vibe and you’re pretty sure you could just say hi to them and they’d be kinda cool? Yeah, she’s like that. And it really works in the context of her show, too, because her style is so conversational and inclusive. Maybe the tiny venue helps, but it felt like she was just telling a story to a bunch of friends. About thirty of them.
I usually try to avoid going overboard with hyping shows I’ve enjoyed, since there’s a point where pushing too many destroys the value of hyping any, but I can honestly say that this show is one of the best shows I’ve seen at the Festival. It’s consistently funny, it has a great rhythm, the delivery (as I said) is friendly, and Meyers clearly really thrives in the spotlight. You’d think that all comedians would thrive in the spotlight, but there are some who just really love it, and she’s one of those.
Juliet Meyers is performing at the Tuxedo Cat every night except Wednesdays until the 9th and I cannot urge you enough to check out her show.
