Adelaide-bred Melbourne-based Comedian Trav Nash’s new show, ‘Ageing Young Rebel‘, is a hectic, microphone-free rant in which Trav explores several stories of his past, mostly relating to frustration. Employment, alcohol and the city of Adelaide all feature heavily. People with low job satisfaction, problem drinkers and/or people who have spent a lot of time in ‘the City of Churches’ will identify with the show easily.
The venue, Caz Reitop’s Dirty Secrets, is a small classy bar on Smith St with what can only be described as a dungeon underneath. The small, stone-walled, low-ceiled room with a stage at one end is the perfect setting for Trav Nash’s comedy. The room is intimate and reflective enough for him to deliver the entire set without a microphone, without him having to shout the whole time to reach all of his audience. It’s nice to watch a stand up comedy gig without a PA system involved. It feels like a conversation where you don’t have to say anything.
Trav is an extremely animated and emotional comic. He expresses himself loudly and frantically. His face gets red and he spits a lot. It really is fascinating to watch.
