Arj Barker’s brand new show, Go Time, is a collection of new material in the same style as Arj’s previous comic exploits. He tackles big issues in this show. Unemployment, impending ecological disaster, the possibility of solar flares destroying all life on earth and diahorreah.
Barker has become a household name in Australia over the last few years, mostly due to numerous television appearances (including Flight of the Conchords and The Melbourne Comedy Festival Gala). His shows have steadily grown in popularity, and this year he delivers his set to perhaps the largest and most impressive of the Melbourne Comedy Festival Venues, the Main Hall of the Melbourne Town Hall. It’s nice to watch such a simple show on such a grand stage. It’s also nice to see Arj utilise his entire stage. He runs, dances and skips around in parts, making the whole area seem necessary.
Arj includes a ‘Take Home Comedy Pack’ in this show. A collection of sassy one-liners in the style of ‘Why don’t you build a bridge… And get over it?’ which punters will be easily able to work into their conversations once the show is over and they return to everyday life.
Fans of Arj Barker (and there are a few of them) should not miss this show. His self-centred stoner style of writing and delivery has lost none of it’s charm as it has matured.
