Have you ever wondered what would happen when three well-known comedians got together and thought ‘We should write a TV show’. Well wonder no more, because this act has answered just that! It follows the story of the two Steve’s (Curry and Stagg) getting together to write a TV show, and the process that goes along with writing such a thing. With the initially subconscious idea of writing themselves into the show, they begin to also develop other, more obscure characters, enter Bob Franklin.
While the idea itself isn’t fresh, and the jokes a bit recycled, I couldn’t help but laugh in the intended places as well as in anticipation for the running jokes throughout. The classic comedy routine of the straight and funny man interacting, or colliding, with humorous outcomes fits in well with the new addition of the character. The dynamic that these three have on stage together creates an atmosphere that makes you feel welcome and like you’re a part of the show, without using the more popular tactic of audience interaction these days; shock. So if you are looking for some classic comedy that will have you comfortably satisfied with the right amount of anticipation and friendliness, I recommend seeing these three men attempt to write a TV show in the theatre.
