Christine McVie is an integral character in the Fleetwood Mac mythos, and in Go Your Own Way rock diva Catherine Alcorn tells the hidden history of one the greatest song-writers of the seventies. Heckler asks Catherine 10 9 Quick Questions!
1. Describe your show Twitter-style, 140 character or less!
“She’s sexy, passionate, exposed and formidably rock’n’roll in Go Your Own Way: The Story of Christine McVie.”
2. What was the most challenging aspect in putting your show together?
Being the producer AND performer. It’s always a challenge to get the balance right between the show administration and remembering I have to perform it too!
3. Which instrument have you never got round to learning?
Tap shoes… but that’s all about to change!!
4. Any country, any decade – when and where would you go?
Two places, for the same reason. Paris in the 1700s and New York City in the 70s. Revolutionary times. Plus, the parties would have been sick.
5. What’s your favourite Internet-related guilty indulgence?
Domain.com.au. Property is my porn!
6. What makes cabaret so fun for you?
The intimacy. The audience. The immediate reaction. (When it’s the right one, of course!)
7. As a child, which film did you re-watch too many times?
The Wizard of Oz. I knew every song and could recite them by the time I was two and a half.
8. Who’s the biggest celebrity you’ve ever been ignored by?
Sean Penn, 2005, St. Pancras International train station in London. I was en route to Paris on the Eurostar. I spotted Sean, walked over and told him how much I admired his work. He didn’t so much “ignore” me, but he didn’t stop walking or reply. He just nodded his head smiled politely. There were no words. Such a babe!
9. Whose show are you most excited to catch at this year’s Festival?
There are just so many I wish I could catch, but I will definitely not be missing Sweet Dreams: The Songs of Annie Lennox starring Michael Griffiths!
