Review – Dr. Professor Neal Portenza performs his own autopsy live on stage. One night only. (Obviously).
With this many comedy awards held by Dr Professor Neal Portenza you’d expect a well-scripted, well-rehearsed show. Well, there’ll be none of that.
No one is safe. Not up the back. Not in the middle. Certainly not if you look like you might have Olympic-grade gymnastic ribboning skills. Neal takes you on a magical journey to nowhere and somehow gets to where he’s probably sort of going within one of the funniest hours of your life.
The majority of the show is unscripted, so every night is going to be different; different as in not the same as the time before and different as in “different”. If you like delightfully bizarre, quirky, off-kilter comedy with extreme audience participation, then you will love this show. If you don’t like some or all of these things then perhaps you need to have your humour glands seen to. In fact, I know a guy who’s a doctor, and also a professor…
The show was absolutely delightful. It takes a strong performer to pull off the perfect balance of constant witty banter, tomfoolery and delightfully tight underwear – such a shallow, fickle nature has I; such tight, tight knickers has he – but the good doctor manages it effortlessly. If these attributes are as important to you as they are to me, then Neal Portenza is your man.
