Review – A Beam Of Golden Sunlight Illuminates The Lone Figure Of Chris Knight Amid The Colossal Wreckage Of Our Once-Great Civilisation
Chris Knight is a one man performance story teller with the wit, charisma and talent to leave the crowd clapping and excited to the end of his show. His good nature shone through as this likeable lad dropped rapid-fire references to popular culture – both old and new – which satisfied the broad audience with references to Charlton Heston, Escape From New York, Barack Obama, zombies, Manos Island, Japanese Disco Death Metal and rap. (In fact Chris did an excellent rap himself that left the cosy crowd cheering and smiling.)
There is something infectious in the humour of this lively performer that endeared him to everyone with a warm-hearted show that easily outshone many more professional performers at the Fringe. The tight audience cloistered around as his tale unfolded with clarity, vision and some delightfully sharp humour. All too soon the show ended and everyone was presented with a Soylent Orange bar to chew on as they mulled over the performance. Chris Knight is a gem of a comedic performer, well down the road to something bigger. And the excellent music from band Lazerhawk helped the show to rise well above the average and into the excellent.
