Review – Celia Pacquola: Let me Know How it all Works
Celia Pacquola’s anxiety about the future just makes you want to give her a hug. The 31 year old could certainly use the reassurance, despite being a successful stand up, television personality and comedic actress. Pacquola awkward self-deprecation is cute and immediately relatable.
The show focuses loosely on the way her life has fallen apart since returning from the UK and the existential crisis that has left her questioning what she believes in. The ridiculousness of her actions, particularly her obsession with psychics, allows the self-reflective set to remain light hearted.
Pacquola’s energy also keeps the tone solidly upbeat. She has a wide, toothy grin that the audience mimics, and a gangly way of occupying the stage. Her exaggerated facial expressions and boisterousness give her an air of the manic pixie dream girl.
The audience frequently laugh so loud that Pacquola is forced to pause before even reaching the punch line. She is a high grade Australian comedian and it’s little wonder her show frequently sells out, even on weekdays. Her show runs until the 20th of April.
