Review – Neo Cosmosphere
Last night Ancient World saw some of the most exciting and soulful female musicians Adelaide has to offer grace the stage. For those brave enough to face the heat, they would have found themselves in the fan-cooled haven of coloured lights and delicious gin and tonics that is Ancient World, and seen some truly mesmerising vocal talent by the likes of Naomi Keyte, Jupiter and Abbey Howlett and the Golden Realm.
These artists are crazy talented. From Naomi Keyte’s angelic voice, Alyssa Fletcher of Jupiter’s slick and easy tone, to Abbey Howlett’s impressive and athletic vocal grooves, wow can these women sing.
Located across the road from Red Square, down an alley marked ‘Private property. Do not enter.’, or something to that effect, Ancient World is a charming and eclectic hideaway from the intensity of the usual Hindley St crowd. If you haven’t been before, go.
Naomi Keyte kicked off the evening with a focused and emotionally delicate solo performance, creating an intimate and inviting kind of magic all over the room.
Jupiter kept the ball rolling with a soulful and fluid set that was a perfect lead-in to the equally soulful yet more energetic Abbey Howlett and the Golden Realm.
The evening was well paced, all the acts complimented each other perfectly and it was a joy to see them all on the one night and with such a fitting progression between them.
Head down to the Jade Monkey on the 13th of March to catch the next instalment of this wonderful event, featuring Oisima, Argus and the Liar, Joy Sparkes and the return of Abbey Howlett and The Golden Realm. Not to be missed.
