Review – Comedy Pub Crawl
It was an inevitable marriage between comedy and pub crawls; the laughter, the stumbling, the failed attempts at romance, the drama, the comradery. All things prominent in a comedy show and a messy pub crawl. If you hate having to wait for a show to conclude before grabbing another pint then woe be gone! The solution is here! Continuing on from its previous success the Comedy Pub Crawl sees host Alan Anderson dragging his new friends to four pubs for a rotating line-up of comedians.
Alan is a hilarious host who toes the line between friendly banter and outright public humiliation. Somehow it works incredibly well in this setting, whether due to loosening everyone up or by triggering more therapeutic drinking, either way Alan made sure we were a big, boisterous family by the time we reached the second pub.
There was a lot of diversity between the styles of comedy we saw and some acts did go over significantly better than others. But though you may not be in love with all the comedians you see, the variety of the show ensures that there is something there for everyone. A healthy portion of audience interaction forces a familiarity that is imperative to any good pub crawl. If being singled out in public scares you then grab another pint and take a seat as close to the stage as possible; I’m sure they’ll never find you there.
The thing that works so well about this show is the mystery of it. You don’t know who you’re going to see, where you’re going to go, who you’re going to meet and what kinds of drink specials you’ll encounter. But one thing you know right from the start is that it will be an epic, raucous, and always fun night.
