Review – Soil & “Pimp” Sessions (Japan)
Silk dressing gowns, an echoing saxophone, blaring trumpet, tinkling piano, gold chains and a rather hip-hop sensibility for a Japanese jazz six piece, Soil & “Pimp” Sessions were an ideal nightcap to the first day of Womad. Frontman Sacho feverishly paces his way through the Death Jazz set. It all comes together in a fractured sort of way, a sublime nightmare.
