WE begin with a Powerpoint presentation starring the somehow likeable Paulette Flapflower:
‘If you focus on homewares instead of your job, you will soon be swimming in gorgeous objects… and a little bit of debt’.
An amusing satirical take on the health, beauty and “wellness” industries, this is not a stand up act, it is an entire performance! Complete with a plethora of interactive characters as well as powerpoint presentations and visual aids (such as rocks that are hand sourced by underweight Javanese orphans, available to purchase – of course!).
Kirsten Law’s style of acting was reminiscent of Kristen Wiig from Saturday Night Live… actually the whole show had a very SNL feel. The jokes were superb, and the concept unique. The only downfall was perhaps the delivery. The energy dropped mid way and at times everything got a little bit too wordy and I was forced to stifle a yawn. It felt a little like a school play and to be honest the acting wasn’t fantastic. Yet by the end of the show I think we’d all grown to love Erin Anne, an impassioned ambassador for Teatcorp, a charming mockery of the Avon lady.
A good one for a few laughs on a girls night out but not a must-see.
