If you’re going to see this guy, which you totally should, I recommend getting a crowd together first. A big crowd. And make sure you have a bar nearby. And now you can properly enjoy the not-quite-deejay sounds of Wolfwolf as he mashes together all your favourite future funk tracks.
It’s hard to deny he has a fresh sound, and props to him for proving Aussies can do dance music. But I would have preferred to see that leather wolf-mask and dinner suit clad lad on stage in one of Adelaide’s favourite bars surrounded by a bunch of like-minded groovers getting down to the intoxicating sweet 80s funk tunes. Although something about the gig felt like a high school blue-light disco scene with those brave few dancing in the middle of a barren dance floor, surrounded by awkward bystanders, give it a little time to warm up and a sold-out audience and the place will be a time capsule of good times.
Just to clarify I have nothing against this undoubtedly talented emerging artist. Given the right circumstances and I’m positive he will rip it up.
I was there (one of the brave few) and it was painful how lacklustre the crowd was. Perhaps it was the 50 min delay before starting?
I agree, put this guy somewhere like rocket and he would go off.
