Review – The Ray Charles Experience

Melvin Brown provides The Ray Charles Experience with backing from a gutsy little band that rock the house down as they support the tap-dancing star through a couple of hours of non-stop entertainment. Melvin’s better than good. He gets the audience up off their feet, thrills them with a whole set of songs related to Ray Charles either directly or through definition. He changes costume four times but keeps his tap shoes on.

An enterprising figure, he is also offering workshops in tap dancing to fitness, and boy is this guy fit. The audience was begging for more; one audience member got up on the stage and lifted her skirt begging for some! Embarrassing much? Old pro Melvin just laughed and kept on dancing because that’s the kind of guy he is.

This is like a Las Vegas lounge act with honest personality and powerful talent. The venue suits the show; friendly atmosphere, cheap drinks and good sound and lighting. A nostalgic knockout for the whole family.
