Review – Oliver Tank
Venue: The Garden of Unearthly Delights – Paradiso Spiegeltent | Yelp
Oliver Tank plays smooth music. It’s reflective, romantic, aspiring – it exists on that other plane where emotions are intricate and overwhelming, to be wondered at and mourned for their evanescent beauty.
It was a shame the show was at 7pm and seated. Although Oliver’s music, casual t-shirt and relaxed manner set a great tone for a gentle shuffle to his beats – which often tiptoed the line between chilling out to the MAX and grooving – the fact it was sunny outside, you could hear the daytime revellers and you were confined to a pretty uncomfortable wooden chair limited one’s ability to lose your self.
Weaving a world is what Oliver Tank does – I particularly enjoyed when he got his guitar to wail over the top of his looped harmonies and beats – but it’s better done at night, and in a place where people can sway their hips and bop their heads.
