What is Cafe Poetry? Not even Ray Tyndale was sure, so she just started approaching customers as poet-in-residence at Sarah’s Sister’s Sustainable Cafe, and setting their stories to word.
That was 2012, and this year she is reading the poems she compiled from that work. Ray also features poems from other books, on farming and domesticity, and is joined by Genevieve McQueen who recounts her experiences working on a farm in Zimbabwe and being a nurse in rural Australia.
This is not the most exciting, up-to-the-minute Fringe, but the stories these women tell are pleasant, quirky and warm. Go for breakfast, take your nan, enjoy the coffee and experience this gem of a cafe.
