With a title like Bipolar you go in with a certain expectation, and Loretta Maine does not disappoint. Her aggressively apathetic tone takes you on a journey of lost love, stopping off at a number of different coffee shops and seeing a few friends, such as the white wine witch. She combines a sufficient amount of stand-up to segue between her catchy, ironically up-beat songs, which you find yourself humming for hours after the show finishes.
She informs you through example of the inner workings of a 29 year old American born Londoner and just when you think you have her figured out, she’ll have you chanting ‘vagina’ with all the other audience members. It’s definitely a show that would be more enjoyed by 25-30 year old females who have been wronged in relationships, but never-the-less if you are a fan of ‘in your face humor’ and music, Bipolar will have you humming along, laughing and cringing at the same time.
This tangential performance is as abrupt as it is miserable and is reminiscent of running your hand along a brick wall; rough at some points, hard at others, but feels good in a strange self-deprecating way. Check it out!
