Review – When We Were Idiots
Have you ever gone on a walking tour of a city you’ve lived in for several years, and came away seeing your home city in a whole new light? That’s what happened to me after the When We Were Idiots Walking Tour came to an end.
Xavier Toby is a comedian who knows a few things or two about Adelaide that may surprise you, even if you’ve lived here for a while. So put on your safety vests (provided) and join this walking tour. You not only get to hear some impromptu comedy and see Xavier heckling his “audience” (results vary nightly) but you also get a serious treatment of the choices we’ve made as a city generation to generation. This includes his prediction of the downfall of Adelaide and the world as we know it.
It’s a short walk, so don’t worry about bringing your hiking boots. It begins in 2114 (yes there’s time travel involved) at the Fringe Tix Box Office on East Terrace and goes around in a circle to end at the Tuxedo Cat where you are transported back to Adelaide in 2014. There you can relax with a drink and join one of two fringe shows there at 11pm. Also, don’t try this yourself. All the people you see on this walking tour are actors and are paid to be citizens of Adelaide for your benefit.
