10 Quick Qs – Andy McClelland
1. What, where, when and how much?
DJ Phone Home
Garden of Unearthly Delights
13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28 of Feb, 6, 7, 8, 13, 14 of Mar
$30
2. Describe your show Twitter style, 140 characters or less:
A big ole DJ dance party where the punters have a hand in where the music is going next and the DJ doesn’t judge, but loves.
3. A quote/moment that stands out from your show?
A d-floor Tug of War in which people who want to hear Jay Z’s ‘Empire State of Mind’ are trying to defeat people who want to hear Kiss’s ‘I was Made for Loving you baby.’
4. Is heckling allowed?
If people can shout over the music, they’re welcome to.
5. What is your role in the show?
DJ, announcer, effects operator, dance leader, water pistol technician and enthusiast.
6. What do you want to be when you grow up?
I never want to grow up.
Failing that; Funky Pope.
7. If you could put on (or be in) any show/band in the world, which one would it be?
I’d be a harmonica player in The Beatles. I’d be playing a pretty background instrument, without much pressure, relying on John, Paul and George to do the song-writing and feeling sorry for Ringo as he had to lug around a drum kit in the early days whilst my instrument fits in my pocket.
8. Why would someone not come see your show?
Because they don’t wish to feel alive.
9. In your opinion, what is the worst show/movie you’ve ever seen and why?
Herbert Gangly’s 6 Dog Impersonation Hour. Because Dog 6 was a lot like dog 4 and it only ran for forty minutes.
10. Besides your show, what’s your pick for the Fringe/Garden?
I love Dave Callan and all the work he puts in to both his comedy and dancing, but really there’s 400 or so shows I want to see and I don’t like to play favourites.
