Review – Tina C’s Australian Tour
Tina C. is the alter-ego of British comedian Christopher Green and is like a cross between Tina Turner
and a Southern Baptist Preacher. She’s all about spreadin’ the Love while “saving souls for capitalism:
and that she did. I was won over instantly by her engagingly animated persona which, despite the
lashings of irony, seemed steeped in genuine country charm. The audience were all smiles from the
moment she strode on stage to well and truly take command and she made us ‘Australasians’ feel oh-so-
special with a number of geographically germane gags. Plenty of chuckles and a number of belly-laughs
followed, and by the end she had us all line-dancing to countrified Abba: a hoot!
Tina C. is political satire at its incisive best, lampooning celebrity, conspicuous consumption and the
capitalist economic model in equal parts, balanced out very nicely with the kind of cheeky lewdness one
might expect from a female impersonator.
Great voice, right-on politics and awesome legs, Tina C. is Nashville Cabaret for thinkers.
