Review – Upstream Color

What makes Shane Carruth remarkable as a film-maker is the level of complexity he engages with in his world building. We’re only given the barest of insights into what’s actually happening, but you can’t but feel that it all makes sense if only you would just think about it long enough.

Review – Now You See Me

Review – The World’s End

Along the way the history of the five friends is told, some emotional tears are shed, some harsh truths are laid out, and a lot of beer is consumed.

And also they discover that a bunch of robot-y type things filled with blue goo are trying to take over the world.

Review – This Old Man

At first squizz, you could be forgiven for thinking this was a comedy. While three old tipsy sheilas do provide comic relief between the tears of a family tearing itself apart, this is very much a deadset drama that cuts right through the crap.

Review – Behind the Candelabra

Michael Douglas delivers a fucking triumphant performance as Walter “Lee” Liberace. Through him we get a leery seducer, a hard-working entertainer… and a dignified superstar at the height of his powers.

Review – World War Z

History may not remember this as the best of all zombie movies, or even the most definitive…but it has everything a good zombie movie should.
