Review – Dirty Fairy Tales
You know, it wasn’t as crude as what I thought it was going to be.
That being said, this is in no way a highly intellectual, sophisticated piece of theatre, it is after all “Dirty Fairy Tales”. Basically 3 guys, a small collection of gathered props and costumes, and lots of sexual innuendos. Each night 3 different fairy tales are tortured and tormented with song, parodies, a few social quips and some Adelaide references. Some jokes fell a little flat but for the most part it was amusing. The guys, Richard Maritzer, Patrick Hercamp, and Ryan Adam Wells, bounce off each other quite well and seem to be enjoying the show as much as the audience.
I suggest grabbing a drink, leaving your expectations at the door and just enjoying the silliness. Don’t be afraid to sit in the front row, there is no audience participation, however, be warned pretty ladies, these boys like to flirt. They also ask for suggestions to construct their improvised fairytale, be creative, give them a challenge, our Transylvanian Blacksmith was quite good.
