Womad – Vieux Farka Toure

The so-called “Hendrix of the Sahara” Vieux Farka Toure turned Botanic Park into his own little woodstock on Sunday.

A small but appreciative crowd defied the heat of the mid-afternoon sun to dance away to rolling, upbeat Malinese rock.

Its no surprise Vieux is the son of legendary Malian guitar player Ali Farka Toure, as he clearly has music in his blood.

Also nice to see a rock star without a overbearing ego, evident when he profusely thanked the audience for braving the heat to see him.
