Review – These Kids are Good

Six up and coming local comedians, two of which are national RAW Comedy winners, for $5 is a pretty good deal. It’s a great way to discover acts you’d like to see, which is kind of the point of the show, so it’s understandable that the sets need to be quick, to the point, and as funny as possible.
For the most part, the six of them pull it off. Understandably, since they’re all still at the beginning stages of their careers, the show can drag a little or a joke might fall flat and it takes a bit of work for them to bounce back from it. It’s all part of the learning curve, but you can rest assured that the comedians on this bill are all funny people.
Stand out of the mixed bag, for me, was Nellie Wight. She’s funny, has a great stage presence, and (as strange a thing as it is to bring up in a review) was one of the few who didn’t lose time in her set to pointless audience interaction. Her time was at a premium and she used it all as best she could. It’s a personal thing, but that counts for a lot with me.
These Kids are Good is playing every day until the 21st of April.
