Review – Hitchcocked by Sound & Fury
I don’t think I can write an objective review about this show. I like Hitchcock movies, I like old New York, I like terrible puns, I like referential humour and I like it when the audience gets to steer the plot. So if you, like me, have excellent taste, then you will love this show. Richard Maritzer, Patrick Hercamp and Ryan Adam Wells form Sound & Fury – a group of self-defined vaudeville-nouveau players. These guys understand how to deliver a witty fast-paced performance that pleases a crowd. There were “ooohs” there were “aaahs” and even a squeal or two.
And no, they didn’t get naked.
This was a murder mystery Hitchcock adventure with a real storyline. You actually wanted to know what happens next. Who’s the killer? Why? Will they get away with it? So many questions! Sound & Fury answered them, and more, in a charmingly intelligent performance that made an hour fly by in no time. Special mention for simple yet effective use of sound and screen special effects. These additions lifted the performance to a new level of engaging.
If you are a stupid, boring or pathetic person do not go to this show. If you are super awesome and enjoy quality performance (bonus points if you know the work of Cory McAbee!) then you should see this now. I mean now. Like what else do you have to do?
