10 Quick Qs – Sara Pascoe
1. Describe your show Twitter-style, 140 character or less!
Cats, mice, Andi McDowell and Friedrich Nietzsche, a bit of feminism and lots of jokes!
2. Who’s the biggest celebrity you’ve ever been ignored by?
I ignore big celebrities myself, HA. There are only two possible reactions to really famous people, go over and be a fan just so you can say you have spoken to them, OR act like you don’t know who they are and hope they come over to you because of how cool and normal you make them feel. This ladies and gentlemen is how I once had a short conversation with Jon Hamm.
3. I’m sure you’re excited to be visiting Melbourne for the comedy festival. Tell us what you hate most about Sydney.
Ha, really? Oh Sydney is such a jerk, I hate all its great parrots and ducks. And the botanical gardens is really tiring and the Opera House is such a show off. And where is the feminine island? HMMM?
4. What was the most challenging aspect about preparing your show?
Cutting the bits that I thought were OH SO CLEVER but that never ever got any laughs. There is a limit to how self indulgent one can be.
5. You can choose to have anything named after yourself: a planet, stadium, street, whatever. How would you immortalise yourself?
A really sweet kind of mouse. I really love mice. Actually, I also love your kangaroo rats, so maybe they could be called Sara Pascoe Rats?
6. What’s your favourite strategy for eviscerating a heckler?
I am not an eviscerater at all. My style is much more ‘inept supply teacher’. I will interact but I am never nasty, cant do it.
7. Why would someone not want to come see your show?
Because they were really jealous of me, or they’re my ex-boyfriend, OR secretly in love with me and couldn’t bear it that they couldn’t have me. Although that is most people, I hope my ticket sales don’t suffer.
8. Describe to us your ideal breakfast.
Toasted sourdough, avocado, cooked tomatoes with basil, mushrooms and spinach fried with garlic and a massive coffee on the side. Thank you for asking.
9. What is the biggest accolade you’ve received from one of your shows?
Someone once gave me a million pound record contract because they could tell what a good singer I would be from my speaking voice*
10. What other MICF show are you most excited to catch up with?
I cant wait to see Celia Pacquola, Felicity Ward, Max and Ivan, James Acaster and Nish Kumar.
* this happened in a dream.
