Review – Jason Geary & Jimmy James Eaton: Sketch-ageddon
The bloke sitting next to me gave it two thumbs up, he was a real first time comedy type guy, seemed to think it was a pantomime yelling out questions and responses, but they coped very well.
The Imperial hotel is a fine venue to attend a night of laughter and sketches. With a great pubby spot for pre game drinks, and then a multi-room upstairs for various differing comedy acts, and great noise control, so that I could only hear the comedy show I was going to see. The air ventilation as not great which left our two unlikely hero’s drenched in sweat after their first dance number right through till the final claps.
The show itself was impeccably rehearsed with the timing of a swiss watch, but loose enough to allow for some hilarious improv. The voices the two comedians brought to the stage allowed for complete transcendence from audience seat to where ever they wanted to take us, and their impressions were unexpected and accurate, with cameos from Morgan Freeman, Christopher Walken, and John Travolta.
The humor was very dry even though our two unlikely heros were soaking wet with sweat, if you do choose to sit in the two front rows, bring a raincoat or a see through umbrella ella ella ella ay ay ay ay. The music choices were contemporary and very fitting to the whole fiasco. They really added to the feel of the night without taking anything away from the performances.
The whole night was a massive success and I found it extremely engaging and elaborating with the bare minimal in regards to props and costumes, a true sign of performance art. The chemistry between the two performers was electric and you can easily tell that they were having as much fun as the audience which is always a nice feeling.
Sketch-ageddon is being performed every night except Mondays until the 20th of April
