Sirens fill the tent, calling a wild-haired angel onto the stage ready to bring on the party of eternity – you know you are in for a good night.
With electric music, gravity-defying acrobatics and performers oozing sexual energy, it comes as no surprise that LIMBO is selling out the Spiegeltent for a third year running. As the show oscillates between the thrilling, sexy allure of hell and the heart-stopping beauty of heaven, it’s hard to tell which one is a more perilous journey.
Whether it’s Danik Abishev breaking free from his cage by balancing one handed and jumping from bar to bar, Mikael Bres sliding head first down a pole at a terrifying speed to effortlessly catch a falling feather as Sxip Shirley belts out the lyrics will you watch me fall, or Heather Holiday swallowing a sword or two as her exposed throat leaves you no doubt which side of the eternal realm she is heading – the intense focus and energy channelled into each routine by every performer keeps the audience captivated and clinging to the edge of their seats.
This show turns the afterlife into an enchanting arena of beauty and debauchery. You might think you would prefer Heaven over Hell but LIMBO is where it’s really at.
