10 Quick Qs – The Magnets
1. What, where, when and how much?
The Magnets
The Vagabond, Garden of Unearthly Delights
7pm nightly until 15th March (except Mondays)
2. Describe your show Twitter style, 140 characters or less:
OMG chk @themagnets. AWESO a cappella. Gr8 vox, UFB beatboxing. 1 helluva SMEXI show. Totes like #PitchPerfect 4 all ages!
3. A quote/moment that stands out from your show?
Ever seen a man speak beat? Check our our vocal percussionist Andy Frost in his drum solo. He’s a phenomenon and right up there with any of the other freaks at this Festival.
4. Is heckling allowed?
Heckling is definitely encouraged! We get more of it here in Oz than back in the UK. When did you lot lose your inhibitions?
5. What is your role in the show?
1) Baritone singer
2) The dark, swarthy one
3) The last one to learn the choreography.
6. What do you want to be when you grow up?
A stunt micro scooter-er. My kids are teaching me.
7. If you could put on (or be in) any show/band in the world, which one would it be?
I’d bring an outdoor production of Frozen to the Adelaide Fringe. We’d see how good Elsa’s ice powers are then.
8. Why would someone not come see your show?
Strangely enough, someone with perfect pitch might not enjoy our our show. With no instruments to keep the pitch we do drift marginally in songs, which could be a bit painful for those with that strange talent.
9. In your opinion, what is the worst show/movie you’ve ever seen and why?
I took my children to a show at the Edinburgh Fringe called Father Christmas Needs a Wee. Surely it’s impossible to do toilet humour and fail to make kids laugh…
10. Besides your show, what’s your pick for the Fringe/Garden?
Abandoman. Funny, clever, musical and he’s a very lovely chap.
