This is what Fringe is all about, something a bit different from the norm, at times a bit ‘out there’ and a mix of comedy and drama.
MKA certainly hit the mark with this presentation of 22 (and yes, they count them for you) short playlettes. Some are very short indeed, others could do with a small trim…. Beowulf Video Game was great but needs a small nip and tuck.
Excellent team work from a hard-working trio too. The night was a steam bath and, in spite of being in a beer garden and fans going full pace, it felt more like a sauna so we could only watch in wonder as the actors seemed to lose their bodyweight in sweat, but they kept going.
The cast had amazing energy and great movement skills, although we lost the female cast member’s voice at times.
A temperamental amp didn’t help matters but they didn’t let it throw them. Some of the playlettes didn’t work for me, but did for my partner, and vice versa. There really is something for everyone here, just don’t bring the kids, no, no, no!
