Heath Franklin is a maverick. A wonder with words and excellent with expression.
The medium sized room of the Trades Hall was just the right size with enough people to garner a large laugh but also small enough to give it that intimate feeling.
Can I Borrow a Crisis takes a new look at life from a comedian, a refreshing look of gratitude at the things one has. Without whinging and whining about everyday problems or even a major crisis this comedy show is left down to simply astute observations about the world Heath lives in, and while it is a very dry world heath is able to reach into the deeper realms of consciousness and unconscious to extract pure comedy. His musing on life pre and post Chopper are simply amazing with married life and recent fatherhood being squeezed for all their worth. If you came to see Chopper you came for the wrong reasons. But you will definitely not be disappointed that you came.
Audience interaction is a finely honed skill of Heath’s, leaving every encounter with laughter and respect for the randomly chosen subject. A very fresh comedic reception and a nice example of the days that were.
Heath Franklin’s Can I Borrow a Crisis is a must see this comedy festival and an absolute promise that you will not regret the time you spend. Although I must say, urinate before as the show does go for a full 60 minutes and induces a good 90 minutes of laughter. You’ve been warned. Enjoy.
