In 1987, Jeff Green, reeling from a failed relationship and disenchanted with his career as a chemical engineer, decided to take the plunge and registered to perform an amateur 5 minute stand up comedy spot. His show focuses on this life changing decision, and the consequences of his drastic shift in direction. Within the overarching theme, Green veers of into amusing tangents, examining childhood, parenthood, relationships and the peculiar trend of British comedians marrying Australian women.
Green’s decision to switch career occurred nearly 20 years ago. Since that time, he has moulded himself into one of the finest British comedians of an era. He has played mammoth shows in England, Melbourne and Edinburgh, where he had the treasured memory of sharing a dressing room with a Danish burlesque troop. To see him in the intimate setting of the Rhino Room is an immense pleasure and luxury.
When discussing life as a comedian, Green states that he deals with criticism by not reading reviews. He has nothing to worry about in the current instance, as his show is uninterrupted hilarity from the opening observations on Adelaide’s humid weather (it is like living inside a kettle) to his closing message about following your dreams. Green is an absolute master of his craft, and well worth spending an hour with.
